Happy Mother’s Day!

14 May Happy Mother’s Day!

It feels good to get back on to my blog and write about this. I have to admit, Mother’s Day is a tough day for me. Today, especially so. Not only did I lose my own mom nearly 9 years ago come July, but I heard the news today about my grandmother’s passing. As sad as the day can be, it always makes me reflect on the truly great moments and people in life. My Nana was one of these great people.

She and my Grandpa opened my eyes at a young age to the power of a positive attitude and a wide smile. She was the epitome of happiness. Somehow she could always appreciate the greatness in day-to-day minutia. She loved watching the neighborhood children from her kitchen window, listening to the birds, and snacking on Dove chocolates. Nancy Nickson is immortalized by the loving family and kindness she spread through this world. I’ll forever miss her but will always carry the virtues and lessons she represented.

So today, thank all the mothers in your life. It truly is the hardest job on earth. I don’t know about you, but I sure have been blessed with knowing some of the best moms. If you are a mother, you may not hear it every day, but know that your family appreciates everything you do. You deserve the world. It takes a real woman to raise a real man, and I’m so lucky to have had some of the realest women in my life. Today, I wish I could speak with Mom or Nana again, but I guess it will have to wait. For now, I’ll just speak to the stars and know they’re listening. Happy Mother’s Day!

Such a beautiful tribute to your mom and grandma Dan! God reminds me daily to live in the moment, appreciate those He’s given me to love, and count all the graces! My grandma’s were amazing women of faith- strong in character and wisdom. They had true servants hearts and taught me much by their example . I miss them daily and know they’ll be waiting for me at the gate on that great day when we’re all together again! Keep practicing that great smile and know how very much they love you!
